Big Paws dog training class is there for dogs and puppies who have completed puppy classes or have had foundation training elsewhere. Dogs just need to be able to sustain focus to attend classes. Classes will focus on building your dog's impulse control and teach them new and useful skills. Each week will cover new training skills, whilst progressing skills started in previous classes. There is flexibility in training, so if you have specific aims we can focus on what will be most useful to everyone. You will need to be dedicated to training outside of classes to ensure you can make progress each week. All training exercises will be easily replicable at home, don't worry, you just need 5 minutes to practice a day! We also want your dog to be able to focus fully in classes, so the training class should replace one of your dogs walks a day. Learning is hard work mentally and therefore you need to avoid over-exercising your dog that day. Held at Talbot View Community Centre, classes run for 6 weeks. On week one you will receive a clicker and a packet of high-value treats. All family members are welcome! All owners must have: - The legal tags attached to the collar or harness - A strong lead (NO slip leads or extendable leads) - Treats (preferably your dogs' favourites - and lots of them!) - Poo bags (always bring more than you think you'll need) - A bed or mat (e.g. bath mat or vetbed) for your dog to lie on Please note: No equipment that works by tightening is allowed in class e.g. choke collars, e-collars or no-pull harnesses.
