All about Faye Barker
Dog Trainer and Behaviourist
Over the last 10+ years I have gained a wide variety of dog experience.

I graduated from a Masters of Research in Anthrozoology (the human-animal relationship) in 2018. This investigated the impact we have on our pets lives and the benefits they provide to us.

Prior to this, I graduated my degree from Hartpury University, in 2017 with a 2:1 Bachelor of Science (hons) in Animal Behaviour and Welfare. The topics studied included animal welfare, training and psychology. The three years allowed me to gain a full understanding of our pets physical and psychological needs.
During my time at university I also volunteered at a dog and cat hydrotherapy and physiotherapy centre, whilst also spending three days a week assisting at dog training classes in Gloucester. Furthermore, I was a leading member of 'High Flyers' dog agility club.

Since January 2018 I have also been a volunteer for the charity Guide Dogs for the Blind. On a weekly basis helping with the training of dogs in the early stages. Here I have been assisting two great positive trainers who have been dog training for over 35 years between them.

Previously, I have also worked for a few years in a busy grooming salon. At the same time, I worked in a pet shop where I was able to learn about the equipment and complete relevant training e.g. nutrition.

My other experience include dog walking, kennels, breeding, agility, rally, obedience and more!

Finally I am also Pet First Aid qualified and qualified in Companion Animal Nutrition.

Canine Confidence Specialist
"Confidence is the feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something." - Oxford Dictionary
Confidence is key to a happy, well behaved dog.

Is your dog anxious meeting new dogs or people? Does your dog show fear-aggression to other dogs, lunging and barking? Does your dog chase cars, bikes or runners? What about ignore you when you ask them to do something? Do they pull on the lead or chew the furniture up when you're not home?

All these issues can be improved and eliminated by teaching your dog confidence! A confident dog:
Feels safe
Has self-control
Stops and thinks before acting
Trusts their owner
Has control over their emotions

As a behaviourist training can focus on confidence directly, or indirectly through giving your dog consent and security.
